Great news! Instagram announced that link sharing will now be available to all the users on their platform and no longer just accounts with big amounts of followers!
For years many people and small businesses wished to have the link sharing option and it is finally here. Imagine now how many small businesses will have an equal chance to link their websites and products! It is a great opportunity to make external content more accessible to users.
A chance for equality and expression through Instagram
Instagram has been testing this feature for a while now on random beta users of their platform and it showed as a great tool for everyone. Prior to this, only users with 10.000 or more followers had this feature.
The key, according to Instagram, is giving everyone the equal chance to express and share important information with family and friends.
We’ve heard from the rest of our community that they also want to share things that matter with their friends and family. Whatever you’re into, from cooking to volunteering or shopping, you now have a space to share in Stories — regardless of your account size.
However, we see a great opportunity for a small business whose numbers are still quite small. Being a content creator is now a big deal, and small businesses are part of this too. Grasping attention is harder every day, so connecting your content to your shops and websites is an amazing feature that will bring engagement and accessibility to products even more.
How can I add links to Instagram?
You might wonder by now, how to implement this new feature to your stories? Don’t worry. The process is pretty simple:
1. Add or create a piece of content you wish to publish to your story
2. Find the sticker tool (in navigation)
3. Select the “LINK” button and enter your link destination
4. Place it on your story wherever it fits the best for you
Instagram Links Safety and Updates
Instagram announced also to work on updating the link button feature in the future. We are hoping to see more accessibility and visual link description. At Instagram, they are working on making this feature safe for everyone as many might want to misuse this feature for scams, and for now, you cannot see what you are clicking on!
